The Church started in 1964, when H.H. Pope Kyrollos VI ordained Fr. Marcos A. Marcos as the first priest to cater for the Copts in North America. He resided in Toronto, but served the Copts across the continent alone for 3 years when other priest was ordained. He established the first Church in Toronto in the name of St. Mark’s Coptic Orthodox Church. Today, St. Mark’s is an active and vibrant community. There are numerous services and activities on a daily basis for the approximately 4000 parishioners and surrounding community. The church’s corridors are alive with the sounds of praise, worship and fellowship; under the pastoral care of eight priests.
