This is not a story of tragedy but one of a new beginning and a happy ending. In these difficult times of 2020's pandemic, Canyon and I are wanting to share our documentary with the world to create hope and resilience.
"On December 4th, 2017, with 15 minutes to evacuate, we lost our home and everything in it, to Southern California's largest wildfire in history - the Thomas Fire, which consumed over 1000 homes and structures within just a few days. This tragic event has inspired us to make a motivational documentary about those deeply affected by the fire and how they transitioned from fire victim to VICTORY, in a short amount of time. Please help support us on a journey to inspire the world to help people see the good among challenge and devastation and to stay strong amidst the challenges. “ -Sierra and Canyon.
Join our interviewees and see how they overcame one of California's hardest times as we find the desire to inspire and motivate the world. Sierra and Canyon created a documentary about those devastated and deeply affected by the fire to document people moving from tragedy and to triumph.
From the Ashes Up was made as a result of the Southern California Thomas Fire, on December 4th, 2017. Sierra was 17 and Canyon was 13 at the time. The film was in production for a year and first premiered at the Ojai Film Festival in 2018! It was also almost accepted in to the Santa Barbra International Film festival but there were too many similar stories. From the Ashes Up was also screened at the Museum of Ventura County and Ventura College!
