Nollywood royalty, Funke Akindele has been arrested, the mother of two spent the night at the State Criminal Investigation Department office in Panti, Lagos. This comes after the actress hosted a small house party for her husband's 43rd Birhday in their home and posted videos on social media despite government strict orders of social distancing. The arrest took place on Sunday, April 5th. However, it's still not known if the movie star violated the Lagos State Government's order of not having more than 20 individuals in a single gathering. Her husband, JJC Skillz, who was not available when she was picked up, has turned himself in and the police still demand all celebrity attendees including Naira Marley to step forward!
Lagos state police command issued a press statement after arresting Jenifa Diary actress Funke Akindele over house party on April the 4th. The report explained that the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control ambassador was arrested for violating restriction orders in Lagos.
The Attention of Lagos State Police Command was drawn to a viral video showing a large number of persons in Lagos estate celebrating a birthday party organised by the Bellos.
Police detectives from the State CID Yaba were promptly drafted to the location, and Funke Akindele was arrested.
Former Lagos Governorship aspirant, Babatunde Gbadamosi after Funke released a video to Apologise to Nigerians, also did the same and apologised after being spotted at a house party in Amen Estate in Lagos.
Gbadamosi, however, contradicted the actress and husband's statement on why they had a party. Funke Akindele, in her video, said everyone in the video was family and colleagues, and they were all quarantined together. Her husband JJC Skillz in his video said everyone lived in the same Amen Estate. But he made matters worst by not being unapologetic and instead said Nigerians are overreacting.
Gbadamosi went on to explain that he thought they were only going to see Funke Akindele and JJC's family and staff at their house. And was a surprise when Naira Marley turned up with several people with him, and that was when he wouldn't have walked away.
The investigation is ongoing and the police are still out to arrest the remaining persons in the video. The police revealed it's in their best interests urged them to report at the State CID Yaba on Monday 6th April 2020 or risk being declared wanted.
The Lagos Infection Diseases Regulations 2020, prescribes a jail term of 30 Days or N100,000 fine or both for anyone found guilty of hosting gatherings or flouting the lockdown order.
Fans were happy with the way Funke Akindele apologised in a video she released on April, 5th, where she explained her side of the story. While some made it clear, her husband wasn't very sorry about the situation.
