The Origin of Passover: God’s Shelter-in-Place Order

The Origin of Passover: God’s Shelter-in-Place Order The Passover story began thousands of years ago in the land of Egypt—and it was a shelter-in-place order from God that set the tone for the evening. A devastating plague (much deadlier than the coronavirus) was about to claim the lives of every firstborn in the land of Egypt. The only exceptions would be the people of God, who stayed indoors and marked their doorposts with the blood of a sacrificial lamb.

That sacrifice pointed toward the sacrifice of another Lamb, whose blood takes away the sin of the world (John 1:29). Soon Christians around the world will be participating in another shelter-in-place Passover service. Do you know why Passover still matters in the modern world?
