UNEMPLOYMENT: Update 4|25 certifying for benefits, reporting $1200 stimulus, signing up for CalJOBS

New updates on 4/25/20 to claiming and certifying for California CA Unemployment EDD benefits.

Certifying for California unemployment EDD benefits which used to need to be done every two weeks is no longer required until May 9th 2020!

Due to ongoing issues with logging on and signing in to: edd.ca.gov, UI Online & UI mobile, they are temporarily suspending the requirement to certify for benefits through May 9th.

Certifying for benefits is the process of telling the California EDD office that you are still out of work every two weeks. We do not need to do this for now!

In the future we will need to go on and certify for benefits but for now, the only thing we need to do is apply and as long as there are no pending issues, we do not need to certify for benefits online.

If you do have pending issues or your claim is denied, you still need to try every possible number to get in touch with a live representative.

I do not know if we will need to eventually report the $1200 in stimulus money received to the EDD but we don't need to worry about that until after May 9th!
