Tomato Pickle | Chutney |Thokku |Goes well with curd rice , Idli ,Dosa Large Tomatoes 6nos
Chilly Powder 3tsp
Kashmiri Chilly Powder 1tsp
Turmeric Powder 1/4 tsp
Asafoedita 1.5 tsp
Mustard 1tsp
Chana Dal 1tsp
Curry Leaves A few
Sesame Oil 5tbsp
Jaggery 1/2 tsp
Tamarind Pulp 1.5 tbsp(or per your taste)
Salt As Required

Cook the tomato in a pressure cooker.Allow it to cool.Take of the skin and grind it finely using a mixer jar.Heat oil in a pan , splutter the mustard seeds , curry leaves , asafoedeta , chana dal.To this add the tomato puree along with spices tamarind pulp , jaggery and salt.Cover and cook it on a low flame , until the water evaporates.This might take a while , (it took around 45 mins for me)Make sure to stir in between.Once the oil starts to show up on the sides , its done.Can be served with Idli ,Dosa , Curd Rice or could be mixed with white rice too.
